Fastelavn: The masks we wear.

These poems are by the Confirmation Class 2018 and were read and shared at the Fastelavn Service.

The Masks we wear.

WHO AM I?

Who am I?

Under this mask

Is it all a lie

Keep my secrets in a flask.

Tell me why I have to hide

Behind a curtain

These rules I must abide

Can’t you see I’m hurtan.

Who am I?

Who are they?

Who are You?

Will the truth convey?

THE MASKS WE WEAR ARE COLORFUL

The masks we wear are colorful.

He is blue,

She is read,

And maybe you are yellow.

There are greens, and purples –

Any color you can think of, but

These are simply masks.

And what do we wo with masks?

We hide away. We cover but stay.

My colors are not known, because I am me

THE MASK WE WEAR

The mask we wear

so people don’t stare

To get the fame that never come

We reach to the skies

In order to get the prize

To stop the distress

And get success

Is why we wear the mask.

YOU WEAR THEM EVERYDAY

You wear them every day,

Except when you’re alone

Used to cover insecurities

Shown through faking emotions.

Our masks!
